But keep that hush-hush. And dont anybody tell Kelvin Sampsons basketball team, which is coming off an appearance in the Final Four. The basketball Sooners are the two-time defending Big 12 tournament champions. Theyre averaging 28 victories over the last three seasons. Theyve won 20 games or more for five consecutive years, and theyve been to eight straight NCAA Tournaments. Smell that? Thats the scent of big-time. And it sure aint pigskin. We didnt all of a sudden get good last year, Sampson said. But the Final Four was like rocket fuel for our program. It launched us. Indeed it did. Right into the national recruiting elite.
