CERASOLI HIGHLIGHTS PLEDGESBy Rob Harrington
A slew of commitments have come in the past few days, headlined by Justin Cerasoli's pledge to Seton Hall. Cerasoli, a super ball-handler as a 6-4 PG/WG, is a fantastic addition for the Pirates. In addition to his fabulous dribbling ability, the Aurora (IL) West star is a crafty scorer who excels at getting into the lane and scoring using teardrop finishes at the basket. Cerasoli chose the Pirates over Villanova, Georgia Tech, Georgia and others. After going through most of the early fall with no commitments, the Pirates now have pledges from Cerasoli and top-100 combo forward Brian Laing. They'd like to add a big forward to balance what has developed into a strong class. JAYHAWKS GET ROBINSONRussell Robinson will pack his bags and head west. Robinson, the 6-2 WG/PG from Manhattan (NY) Rice, picked Kansas over Georgia Tech, UConn, Kentucky and others. Having received a commitment from OK C Darnell Jackson during the summer, getting Robinson will help shore up Bill Self's backcourt in Lawrence. Robinson is a talented scorer and playmaker who is best evaluated for his production, rather than when having his game broken into its component pieces. While he doesn't possess superb athleticism or the playmaking skills to run point full-time, he is quick with the ball, a good perimeter shooter and, most of all, is simply very productive -- and clutch -- each time he takes the court. Kansas hopes to get a commitment from FL C Alexander Kaun very soon. Kaun has narrowed his list of schools to the Jayhawks and Duke. MEMPHIS BACK AT ITJust days after their a commitment from Kareem Cooper became public, the Memphis Commercial Appeal is reporting that the Memphis Tigers have a commitment from Richard Dorsey, a 6-8 BF at Laurinburg (NC) Prep. Dorsey, a rugged rebounder and athlete who played very well at the adidas ABCD Camp, chose the Tigers over Miami, Auburn, Southern Cal and others. He needs to improve his decision-making in college, but physically Dorsey should cause matchup problems very early in his career at Memphis. Memphis now has commitments from Dorsey (top 80 nationally), Cooper (top 200), PG/WG Darius Washington (top 20), WF Shawne Williams (top 25) and BF/WF Robert Dozier (top 90), giving the Tigers one of the best recruiting classes in the country.
