JONES MAKES DECISIONBy Rob Harrington
Dion Dowell became the first Houston Westside All-Star from the Class of 2004 to make a commitment, when he announced for Texas several weeks ago, and now one of Dowell's AAU teammates also has made a pledge. Charlie Jones III, the son of All-Stars coach Charlie Jones II, committed to Colorado State Wednesday night. Jones, a 6-0, 155-pound PG from Katy (TX) Cinco Ranch, is a good playmaker and defender who is known as a pass-first, shoot-second type of player. "The basketball program (at Colorado State) is definitely on the rise," Jones said. "I attended their specialty camp last summer, and I really enjoyed my experience." Jones also is a winner. Cinco Ranch currently is 29-5 and has won each of the past two district championships. He is ranked by Texas scouts as a top-15 prospect in the state for the 2004 class.
