ROUNDUP: PRICE LEADS WESTBy Rob Harrington
For an entire week, the eyes of the high school recruiting world focused upon Chicago and the NBA sizzle surrounding the Roundball Classic, but it was one of the game's players who definitely won't be making that jump next season who etched his name in the record book. UConn signee A.J. Price, a 6-1 PG from Amityville (NY) High, broke the event record by handing out 15 assists to lead the West (oddly enough) to a 124-110 win over the East. Price shared West co-MVP honors with Duke signee Shaun Livingston, who went for 12 points and seven assists, including some typically flashy passes in the all-star game setting. North Carolina signee J.R. Smith scored 16 points and was named East MVP.
