COMMITMENT ROUNDUPBy PrepStars.com staff
The late May commitments continued to roll in this week, as several major programs made new additions -- and there was one key loss as well. Perhaps the most significant story was the de-commitment of Arizona commitment Abdul Gaddy, who is back on the market and will be among the most sought-after rising seniors in the nation, particularly given that he's an elite point guard in a year when there aren't many of those guys going around. A&M GETS RISING TALENTTexas A&M traveled east to get a potential top-100 pledge from SC WF Khris Middleton, a slender forward who boasts plenty of athleticism for the Big 12 and likely will play early for the Aggies. Middleton also considered South Carolina, Charlotte, Nebraska, Charleston and others. PLEDGER DOES JUST THATOklahoma coach and North Carolina native Jeff Capel returned to the vicinity of his roots to score a commitment from VA WF/WG Steven Pledger, a fast-rising wing who enjoyed an outstanding spring for the Boo Williams Summer League. Pledger is a good shooter and solidly-built, highly intelligent wing. He also considered VCU, George Mason, Old Dominion along with increasing attention from high-majors as a result of his recent performances on the travel circuit. GOLDEN EAGLES GET HARD WORKERMarquette landed WI BF Jeronne Maymon, who chose the Golden Eagles over Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, Baylor and others. Maymon's stock in trade is very hard work, and he's successful in the paint despite being just 6-6. He represents the sort of blue collar persona new coach Buzz Williams hopes to bring into the program.
