LAWRENCE CHOOSES ST. JOHN'SBy PrepStars.com staff
St. John's won out for one of the best senior prospects hailing New York, getting the decision from NY/CT WG Omari Lawrence, who chose the Johnnies over interest from Miami, Marquette, Pittsburgh and others. Lawrence is a native of the Bronx who is prepping this year at the South Kent (CT) School. Lawrence is a tough, skilled wing who brings a lot of toughness and power to the court; in other words, he's very typical for a New York guard. He'll need to polish his ball skills and work harder on defense, but those areas are common fixes for young players to address. Lawrence averaged 18 points per game as a junior for St. Raymond's.
