MORE SPRING COMMITMENTS

April 23, 2008

April always is a very busy month, as late signees from the senior class make their decisions, and some underclassmen -- who are being watched by college coaches at various travel events -- also are making the call on their college choice.

One potential top-75 prospect from the Class of 2009, MN BF/WF Royce White, chose in-state Minnesota over a burgeoning list of high-major schools. White transferred into Minnetonka Hopkins this year, and that move will put him in one of the state's traditionally strongest programs.

White has improved considerably since last summer, showing that he now can play away from the basket on a regular basis. Both his dribbling and his shooting have improved, yet he also remains a pretty effective scorer around the rim.

WILLIAMS TO IU

Tom Crean will arrive to a depleted lineup at Indiana, but a commitment from Nick Williams will help. The 6-5 WF had been a Marquette recruit, but he opted out after Crean left the Golden Eagles, and now he's headed to IU.

Williams is somewhat stationary, but also is a good three-point shooter who boasts a wide, strong frame.

DUCKS GET SIM ON THE REBOUND

Following the dismissal of Ben Braun at Cal, senior 6-0 guard signee Garrett Sim from Portland (OR) Sunset received a release from his letter of intent. After taking stock of his options, Sim now will represent the home-state Oregon Ducks.

Sim averaged 23 points a game as a senior, including 26 per game in the state tournament. He hasn't been tremendously nationally touted during his time in high school, but the strong close to his senior season obviously bodes well for his college future.
