LATE APRIL PLEDGES

April 29, 2008

Kentucky reached into the Class of 2010 well to gain a pledge from big-time IN BF Dominique Ferguson. Ferguson is a top-25 talent in the rising junior class and pledged to the Wildcats over a host of other major programs.

Ferguston has been impressive this spring, performing well in front of us at both the Boo Williams Invitational and the Pittsburgh Jam Fest. Given his long frame and advanced skills -- including advanced face-up ability -- he ultimately could rank among the nation's top 10 prospects in his class.

Also, IL JC C Josh Harrellson pledged to the Wildcats and will give UK three years of service in the frontcourt, because he was an academic qualifier out of high school.

TAYLOR CHOOSES KU

Former Marquette recruit Tyshawn Taylor, a versatile and athletic guard, now is headed to Kansas. Taylor and the Jayhawks had courted in the fall, but Kansas ended up looking elsewhere.

Taylor is an excellent fit for Kansas' system. He is quick laterally and able to capably play either guard position, and he's a good finisher in transition. His jump shot needs to become more consistent in order for him to take the next step.

MAJOK TO UCONN

Talented 6-9 BF Ater Majok committed to Connecticut over serious interest from Kansas, Kentucky and many others. Attending high school in Australia and playing for a traveling team to do a tour of the United States -- and its universities -- Major should play right away for the Huskies, who will appreciate his outside/in versatility.

MORE COMMITS. ...

Former Miami commitment Quincy Roberts is headed to St. John's. Roberts always was more effective in high school than he was on the travel circuit, and the Red Storm are hoping he can shore up their backcourt needs. ... Ohio State added a pair of juco commits: MI G Jeremie Simmons and AZ BF Nicola Kecman, a native of Serbia. ... WI rising junior guard Vander Blue has pledged to Wisconsin. ...
