RUSSELL, MILLER COMMIT

By PrepStars.com staff

October 28, 2008

While there were have been some commitments following this past weekend's visits, the pace obviously is slowing due to the sheer dwindling numbers involved. Because so many players already have decided, it's now coming down to the wire for those major prospects who still are out there.

Likely the most significant pledge was delivered by TX WG/PG Nick Russell, who chose Kansas State over Texas Tech, Iowa and others. Russell is skilled and versatile, and he's above-average in terms of quickness as well. While he isn't a pure scorer, his multi-dimensional abilities should enable him to contribute early in Manhattan.

More news:

NC junior WG/PG Ian Miller: Committed to Florida State.

Comment: The Seminoles gobbled up solid guard Miller over the weekend. Miller committed to FSU on the heels of an unofficial visit, and he'll provide the Noles with good quickness upon his arrival in Tallahassee. He had begun to attract attention from even more high-majors, but comfort and the desire to avoid a drawn-out recruiting process compelled him to give Leonard Hamilton's program the nod.

Elsewhere, all three Arizona pledges -- Abdul Gaddy, Solomon Hill and Mike Moser -- have publicly backed away from Arizona. This move was expected in light of Lute Olson's sudden retirement from the program.
