BLEDSOE CHOOSES UK

Deciding largely between Kentucky and Memphis, No. 2 unsigned PG Eric Bledsoe committed to the 'Cats over the Tigers.

Bledsoe is a widely underrated scorer with big-time quickness and excellent defensive potential. What he doesn't have yet is a consistent jump shot, but that's something he can improve in college. It's certainly true that many spring recruits get oversold due to the scarcity factor, but Bledsoe doesn't figure to be one of those guys.

Of course, most of the speculation around Bledsoe has been that he will be borderline in terms of qualifying academically. Assuming he does matriculate to UK with NCAA eligibility in hand, look for him to make an immediate impact.

Now, there's also the issue of the No. 1 unsigned PG -- and, in fact, the No. 1 PG overall in the Class of 2009 -- John Wall. Wall continues to list Kentucky prominently, and it's unlikely that Bledsoe's decision will affect him one way or the other.

Elsewhere, top-100 rising senior Juwan Staten is moving from Ohio to Oak Hill Academy. Staten is a key piece for powerful All-Ohio Red, and the Dayton Flyers pledge is likely to get a lot of ink this summer as his team advances into the deep playoff rounds of various tournaments.
