PAINTER OPTS FOR WOLFPACKPrepStars.com staff
N.C. State added to its already outstanding 2009 recruiting class, getting the nod from top-100 VA BF Deshawn Painter, a slender BF who chose the Wolfpack over finalists Maryland and Virginia Tech. Painter previously had signed with Florida, but he obtained a release from his letter of intent this spring upon deciding to reopen his options. Given his size, length and athletic ability, he should have a very good chance to start as a freshman in Raleigh. At one time Painter was considered one of the elite prospects in the Class of 2009, but over time his skills didn't develop as rapidly as everyone hoped. That said, he is one of the hardest workers in the class among big men, and athletically he doesn't have to take a back seat to anyone. The key for him will be to add 15-20 pounds to better hold his position, and along with that he'll need to cultivate the jump hook that shows promise of becoming a consistent weapon. |
