RECRUITING ROUNDUPPrepStars.com staff
There have been a few major moves in the past few days, so let's catch up with the latest as the spring signing period winds down and the rising senior Class of 2010 begins to fully command the attention on the national recruiting stage. First, there continues to be no real news on the NC PG John Wall and NY WG Lance Stephenson fronts. Wall did get cited for breaking and entering during the weekend, but according to sources that bit of unrest was more sizzle than pop, and likely his recruitment will be mostly unaffected. Meanwhile, let's take a look at what actually did happen. First, Arizona brought NY WF Kevin Parrom to Tucson. New Wildcats coach Sean Miller had signed Parrom when he was at Xavier, and Parrom ultimately opted to follow his coach to the west. Parrom should be a solid four-year player for a program in desperate need of talented bodies. The Arizona program must be rebuilt from the ground up, and getting core players such as Parrom is a sound way to do that. Of course, there have been conflicting reports whether U-A is serious about getting involved with Stephenson, but whatever happens with that situation the Wildcats obviously are aiming at adding elite talents as well to supplement the future stalwarts like Parrom. RIEK SURFACES IN STARKVILLEAfter essentially getting forgotten about for a year or more, Sudan C John Riek is now set for Mississippi State. The Bulldogs, just a week after getting MS/CA C Renardo Sidney, now have signed a pair of elite big men from the outgoing senior class. Both guys have been hounded by school stability issues, but both are major talents as well. TIGERS ADD A PAIRLast weekend was a big one for Missouri, which brought in a host of recruits for visits. Two of those players opted to decide on the heels of that trip, including Tyler Stone and Jon Underwood. Stone is a long athlete who didn't get much attention last summer, but the mobile 6-7 BF at Memphis (TN) Central Baptist is a talented athlete who should fit well into Mizzou's fullcourt, fast-paced system. Underwood, meanwhile, is a 6-9 BF at Lanham (MD) Princeton Day who hails originally from Arizona. He doesn't project as a star in the Big 12 but did enjoy an outstanding senior season for a strong team.
