The Pittsburgh Jam Fest tips off on the campus of Pittsburgh this weekend, and the event -- run by the Hoop Group -- always features a strong array of regional and national talent.

This weekend will be the first change from the recruiting calendar of recent seasons, because coaches in the past could attend events such as the Jam Fest or the Real Deal on the Rock in Arkansas.

These venues are likely to be less energized without the coaches scouting, although by the same token hopefully the players will play a little more relaxed. What's nice about Pittsburgh is that you essentially can focus on the Northeast, and then the following weekends see a high concentration of West Coast prospects in Las Vegas, followed by a look at numerous Midwestern teams in Kansas.
