SIDNEY BACKS OFF USC

There have been several major commitments during the transition from event to event (see our lists for the latest moves), but the biggest news to emerge this week is that top-10 senior big man Renardo Sidney reportedly is backing out of his pledge to Southern Cal. Sidney, whose story has been chronicled throughout his years as a prepster, is an elite talent but also one who has been tagged with the "vagabond" label, and developments such as this are a reason why.

Sidney had pledged to USC earlier this year, but the allegations levied against the school's athletic department may have created too much of a cloud for either side to continue forward. Mississippi State now becomes the presumed leader to land Sidney.
