SMITH’S PLEDGE LEADS PRE-SIGNING DAY DECISIONSPrepStars.com staff
UCLA landed its most important prospect of the 2010 recruiting cycle, getting the nod from elite WA C Josh Smith, who chose the Bruins over co-finalist Washington and many other schools that had hoped to hang around longer in his recruitment than they did. Smith is an elite talent who has suffered through bouts of inconsistency during his prep career, but given his size and excellent skills, with improved conditioning and focus he could become a star at the college level. The Bruins were the perceived leader for Smith in the summer as well and actually were rumored to be getting a commitment earlier this fall, but ultimately Smith opted to wait until just prior to signing day to announce his decision. MORRIS PICKS YELLOW JACKETSAs expected, Georgia Tech picked up native son and big-time academic prepster Jason Morris. A talented, versatile athlete who has improved his scoring and ball-handling over the past year, Morris drew scholarship offers from schools coast to coast and will be counted upon to use his strength and natural talent to play early for Paul Hewitt’s program. |
